-
- With this much hostility I'm not surprised - as the old saying goes,
- you'll catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.."
-
- : >reasons. I especially disagree with those who have purchased Macs or PC's
- : >because they perceive them as HIP computers. It's one thing to be forced

-
- This brings me back to the benefits of cross-platfrom ability....I don't
- have either a Mac or a PC, nor do I want either. But I would like to be
- able to bring work home and continue it. That's why I'm glad C= added
- CrossDos, that's why I installed SS, that's why I'm glad Softwood is
- adding RTF to FW5.
-
- : >In my opinion, multi-platformer who claim to be Amiga
- : >loyalists are just plain full of crap. You can devide your attention
- : >between two or more platforms and still claim to be supporting the Amiga.
-
- Well, I'm cerainly glad I don't fit your stereotype.
-
- : >Every penny spent on another platform is a penny taken out of the pocket
- : >of a deserving Amiga developer. Scala's problems, are not necessarily
- : >Scala's fault, but quitters deserve what they get.
-
- Give 'em hell when they quit...encourage them beforehand. Developers are
- in business, and tho' many will stick it out as long as they're able,
- what really encourages them is to see continued purchases...see what
- happened with Mike Smithwick? Not one Amiga sale in months, zip, no more
- Distant Suns. You might say, there'll be nothing to buy from Scala....I
- disagree...I just bought MM400, and am looking forward with confidence to
- a resurgent Amiga platform, the PowerAmi.
-
-
- : > You can't _BE_ an Amiga
- : >developer if you think the future is elsewhere.
-
- True.
-
- : >Also, Scala did some
- : >pretty dumb things when it came to their dealer base. Like so many other
- : >companies, they placed their trust in the wrong people and got screwed.
-
- Based on your first sentence above, sounds like you did too.
-
- : >How can you even say Antique Amiga Hardware with a straight face?
-
- The context of the word Antique was a positive one....as in, a 10 year
- old A500 is still able to outshine a much newer PC with the benefit of
- fine software like Scala. You have changed the thought to discussing the
- currency of the architecture. You're right, the base PC is 15 years old
- or more....I wouldn't call it antique, it's antiquated! However,
- miracles have been done with it by throwing huge amounts of procesor
- speed, RAM and HD space at it. Clearly, the only area that the Amiga
- seriously has fallen behind in is processor speed. This wil be addressed
- in the PA.
-
- ; >I'm
- : >pretty sick of guys like you who claim to be Amiga people just to
- : >distract others from the truth.
-
- Take a pill...I'm not trying to distract anyone, merely to defend a fine
- company, and to encourage them to stay in the Ami market if at all
- possible. I've seen opinionated diatribes like this drive other longtime
- Amiga companies into saying "who needs this crap?"....you do more harm
- than good, regardless how sincere your affection for the Ami. Read John
- Chang's response to see if this is not true.
-
- I've spent over ten grand on my Amiga setup in the last 12 months...I'll
- spend a further $4-5,000 in the next 6 months. That's what I call
- support. I also spend a good deal of my time advocating the Amiga's
- strengths to PC'ers, the school board where I work, and in print. I
- further have made a very conscious effort to assist the Amiga
- retail/wholesale/developer community by acting as a bit of a catalyst.
-
- I think this is much more useful than scurrilous attacks on remaining
- Amiga vendors. Any further comment on this subject should be directed to
- comp.sys.amiga.advocacy, as it's strayed a long way from multimedia. By
- the way, I don't read c.s.a.a. It's too full of this kind of time
- wasting bitching.
